Fatal Fury Overview
Fatal Fury is a one-on-one fighting game originally developed for arcades and later ported to the Sega Genesis. Players select from a roster that includes the Bogard brothers, Andy and Terry, as well as a Japanese kickboxer named Joe Higashi.
The narrative context involves a tournament held in Southtown City, known as the King of Fighters Tournament. The Bogard brothers enter this competition seeking to confront Geese Howard, the city's controlling figure who was responsible for their father's death years earlier. Victory in the tournament is presented as the necessary path to this confrontation.
Gameplay involves progressing through a series of matches across different locations within the city. This initial installment is a 2D fighter and does not include the lane-switching mechanic that would later become a series hallmark. The package is completed with a challenging two-player versus mode for direct competition.
