Fatal Fury Overview
Fatal Fury is a fighting game originally released for arcades and later converted to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The gameplay involves selecting one of three fighters and competing in a tournament across various locations within a single city.
The narrative context for the competition is a personal vendetta. Two brothers, Andy and Terry Bogard, enter the King of Fighters Tournament as the sole method to confront Geese Howard, who holds power over Southtown and was responsible for their father's death. They are joined by a Japanese kickboxer named Joe Higashi.
As a one-on-one 2D fighter, it established the beginning of a longer series. This initial installment includes a mode for two players to compete against each other, but does not incorporate the layered movement between foreground and background planes that would later become a signature element of the franchise.
