Mega Man X is a robot built by Dr. Light with the capacity for independent choice. His discovery by Dr. Cain leads to the creation of reploids, a new robotic species based on his design.
These reploids become a threat when corrupted by the sigma virus, turning them to violent purposes. The task of confronting this outbreak falls to X and his capable partner, Zero.
