Final Fight Overview
Final Fight is a side-scrolling fighting game set in Metro City, where players control one of three characters to rescue a kidnapped mayor's daughter from a criminal gang. The gameplay involves moving through urban environments and using basic combat moves against various opponents.
Players can select from Cody, Guy, or Mayor Mike Haggar, each navigating six distinct city areas overrun by gang members. Enemy types include individuals who throw explosives and large wrestlers, requiring the use of punches, kicks, and throws to defeat them. The experience is generally challenging due to the number and variety of adversaries encountered.
Different versions of the game have unique technical characteristics. The Sega CD release features voice-acted cutscenes and a time attack mode, but limits on-screen enemies to four. Other ports, like the one for Commodore 64, restrict the number of simultaneous on-screen foes even further, while the SNES iteration is considered a distinct release.
