Fatal Fury 2 is a fighting game where players engage in one-on-one duels using punches and kicks. The conflict centers on a new tournament organized by Wolfgang Krauser, following the earlier defeat of Geese Howard.
Combat involves a selection of eight fighters, including Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui, who must face four boss opponents. The control scheme is built around four attack buttons, representing an increase in complexity from the original title.
A key feature is the two-plane battle system, which allows fighters to occupy either the foreground or background. Movement between these planes is now performed with a single button combination, rather than being restricted.
