Mortal Kombat 3 Overview
Mortal Kombat 3 is a 2D fighting game where players select a warrior for one-on-one combat. The PC version supported online network play, and it was the final entry in its series to use motion-captured digitized graphics for its characters.
The narrative premise involves the conquest of Earthrealm by the emperor Shao Kahn, who revives his queen, Sindel, as a prelude to invasion. A group of surviving fighters, including Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, and Sub-Zero, must confront Kahn's forces. These opposing forces include mercenaries, cyber-ninjas, and sorcerers like Shang Tsung.
Gameplay introduced several new mechanics, such as a dedicated Run button to increase battle tempo and multi-level stages. The "Dial-A-Combo" system allowed for chained attacks, while "Vs." codes entered before a match could unlock additional powers. The game featured more stage-specific fatalities and finishing moves, with players eventually facing the sub-boss Motaro and the final opponent, Shao Kahn.
