Mortal Kombat Overview
Mortal Kombat is a fighting game where two combatants face each other in one-on-one battles. The gameplay involves a range of attacks, including punches, kicks, and character-specific special moves. A definitive victory can be sealed with a Fatality, a unique and graphically violent finishing maneuver performed upon an opponent's final defeat.
The conflict is set against a tournament with a five-hundred-year history. This competition was subverted by the sorcerer Shang Tsung, who entered the four-armed warrior Goro to secure a prolonged winning streak for the Outworld. With the fate of the Earth Realm at stake, the thunder god Raiden intervenes, assembling a group of seven fighters to challenge the reigning champion. This group includes individuals like Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, Johnny Cage, Kano, Sub-Zero, and Scorpion.
Originally an arcade title designed for two players, the game is visually distinct for its use of digitized actor sprites and its prominent depiction of blood during combat.
