Terranigma Overview
Terranigma is an action role-playing game where the player controls a character named Ark. Progression is tied to completing significant quests or clearing areas, after which Ark gains levels. Combat involves a variety of weapons and techniques, which are derived from combining basic actions like attacking, running, and jumping.
The narrative is set on a planet divided into a surface world, called the Lightside, and an underground realm known as the Darkside. A historic conflict between two cosmic forces, referred to by humans as God and Devil, resulted in the surface continents being submerged. Ark originates from Crysta, the sole remaining village in the underworld, which features environments of frozen crystal and lava.
The plot is initiated when Ark disobeys the village elder and opens a forbidden door, discovering a box containing a strange creature. This act petrifies the entire village, and Ark must journey through the dangerous Darkside to locate five towers to revive them and ultimately restore life to the planet's surface. Magical spells can be cast through one-use rings, which are created from collectible Magirocks.
This title is frequently considered the concluding entry in a trilogy, following the games Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia.
