Ninja is a side-scrolling beat-'em-up where the player controls a ninja character. The objective involves moving through each stage while engaging in combat against all encountered opponents.
Combat utilizes both a dagger for close attacks and a shuriken that can be thrown at a distance. Scattered throughout the levels are collectible items called idols. Acquiring these restores the player's health and contributes to the final score. The game is won once every idol has been collected.
