The Last Ninja is an action and adventure title with a medieval Japanese setting. Players control the sole survivor of a ninja clan who is on a quest for vengeance against the shogun who ordered the clan's destruction.
Gameplay involves navigating environments from an isometric perspective, with movement possible in four directions. The ninja can jump, engage in combat with various enemies, and gather required items throughout the journey. Combat allows for a selection of different strikes and defensive blocks, and useful weapons such as shuriken and smoke bombs can be discovered.
