Cash Invaders Overview
Cash Invaders is a fixed shooter where the player pilots a ship along the screen's lower edge, firing upward at descending alien formations. Its defining mechanic is that defeated enemies drop currency, specifically gold and silver coins, which the player collects.
This acquired money is spent on temporary power-ups, such as shields, rapid-fire weapons, and a boomerang. These purchased enhancements degrade over time, requiring further investment. The game presents a challenging progression across one hundred stages, with enemy behavior and level speed increasing regularly.
Periodic bonus stages interrupt the main sequence, tasking the player with shooting numbered aliens in a specific order for additional points. Adversaries vary, including types that are more durable, move faster, or attempt deliberate collisions. A persistent high score table records performance along with the date it was achieved.
