Worms Overview
Worms is a turn-based strategy game where teams of up to four worms each compete on destructible, procedurally generated landscapes. The objective is to eliminate all opposing worms by reducing their health to zero, at which point they explode and can damage nearby units.
Players control one worm per turn, with actions limited by a timer. Movement options include crawling and jumping, but falling from a significant height causes damage and ends the turn prematurely. A worm that falls into water or off the map is instantly killed. Each turn allows for a single attack from a varied arsenal, after which the turn concludes.
The available weapons range from standard artillery like bazookas and grenades, which are influenced by wind and gravity, to more unconventional choices such as the Fire Punch, dynamite, and airstrikes. Utility items like ropes and girders are also provided. The terrain itself is destructible, with attacks carving craters and tunnels into the environment.
Maps are presented in ten distinct visual styles, including forests, deserts, and more fantastical settings like Candy land and the moon, the latter of which alters gravitational physics. The combination of environmental factors, weapon variety, and destructible landscapes creates a challenging strategic experience.
