Superfrog Overview
Superfrog casts the player as a transformed prince, now a frog, on a quest to rescue a kidnapped companion from a witch's castle. This mission unfolds across six distinct thematic worlds, each containing four stages set in environments ranging from forests and castles to pyramids and space.
Progress through these platforming stages is governed by a time limit. The primary objective within this limit is to gather a required number of coins, supplemented by collecting fruit for bonus points. Various power-ups appear, including wings for extended jumps and pills that alter movement speed.
Encounters with foes are diverse, changing with the scenery to include creatures like bees and snakes, as well as knights, mummies, and robotic enemies. While the frog lacks a standard weapon, it can find and shoot blobs to defeat some adversaries; others can be dispatched by jumping on them.
Between levels, accumulated bonus scores can be risked in a slot machine minigame for potential rewards like extra lives or level passwords. A special bonus stage called "Project F" serves as a transitional link before the final world. Upon completion or failure, players can enter their names into a disk-savable high score table.
