Xenophobe is a side scrolling shooter that incorporates platforming mechanics. The player controls a team of engineers tasked with responding to a Xeno infestation across multiple space stations.
The setting is established by a narrative where these alien creatures, emerging from pods, have attacked orbital stations. A survivor's report describes the threat as acid spitting Xenos, prompting the engineers' mission to prevent the spread to the homeworld.
Gameplay involves moving through stations with the objective to either secure them or evacuate. Players begin with a basic laser but can acquire other armaments such as Phasers, Lightning Rifles, Poofer guns, and bombs during the course of the mission.
