Section Z Overview
Section Z is a side scrolling shooter set within the alien battle platform Balangool. The player controls Captain Commando, the sole remaining defender after Earth's forces are defeated by invaders commanded by L-Brain.
Gameplay involves navigating a maze like structure of corridors, choosing new directions at the end of each scrolling segment. The player can shoot directly left or right while moving. Defeated enemies may drop power ups, which include improved lasers, a three way cannon, and a shield; these items can be stored for later use.
Progress is gated by generators that must be destroyed to unblock certain areas. The journey culminates in confrontations with four distinct boss creatures. Survival depends on managing energy units, which absorb enemy fire, and Special Transmission Shells that require energy to activate. Contact with enemies, walls, or depletion of all energy results in death, making the experience challenging.
