The Goonies II Overview
The Goonies II is a Nintendo Entertainment System title based on the 1980s film, featuring its characters and music. Players control the character Mikie, tasked with rescuing his kidnapped friends and a mermaid named Annie from the Fratelli family's underground hideout.
Gameplay involves navigating a large environment comprising cellars, caverns, and mazes. While side-scrolling action is present, exploration is key, with players able to converse with characters and search for concealed doors and items. A variety of enemies, including snakes, spiders, and skeletons, must be confronted.
Mikie begins with a simple yo-yo, but can acquire numerous tools such as a boomerang, bombs, and scuba gear throughout the adventure. The objective extends beyond rescue to include destroying the Fratelli's master computer. Progress can be saved via a password system, which retains the player's inventory.
