Spy Hunter Overview
Spy Hunter is an overhead driving action game originally released for arcades. Players control an armed vehicle navigating a road filled with hostile traffic that employs various aggressive tactics to impede progress, such as ramming, gunfire from other cars, and aerial bombardment.
The vehicle can be upgraded by entering special weapons vans, which provide secondary armaments like missiles, oil slicks, or smoke screens. Environmental changes occur over the course of the journey, including seasonal shifts that introduce hazardous conditions like icy roads. The gameplay is challenging, requiring careful engagement with enemy vehicles while avoiding civilian cars.
Route variations allow the car to enter boathouses, where it is temporarily converted into a boat for travel on waterways. This transformation adds a layer of variety to the core driving mechanics.
