Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Overview
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is a computer adaptation of an arcade game derived from the film. The player controls Indy through a repeating series of three distinct stage types, each presenting different obstacles and objectives.
One stage type involves navigating a temple interior to retrieve the Sankara stone while evading lava and attacks from Mola Ram and other enemies. Another focuses on traversal through a mine, where the whip is used for movement and combat to free captive children before making an escape. A third stage is a mine cart sequence where the player must choose paths and avoid hazards on the tracks.
The game's structure is cyclical, with the mine and mine cart stages increasing in complexity upon repetition, while the temple layout remains constant. After several cycles, the final confrontation occurs on a rope bridge against Mola Ram.
