Ice Climber Overview
Ice Climber is a game where players ascend a series of mountains. The objective is to reach the summit of each one, navigating through eight distinct platform layers per mountain.
Progress is opposed by environmental hazards and creatures. These include icy surfaces that affect movement, platforms that shift position, and falling icicles. Animals such as condors and polar bears also act as obstacles.
Each character is equipped with a mallet. This tool serves a dual purpose: it can defeat enemies and is used to break apart sections of the platforms. Creating openings by breaking bricks is necessary to advance to higher layers. Upon completing a climb, a bonus stage is encountered before progressing to the next mountain. The game's structure presents a challenging progression, as each successive mountain increases in difficulty.
