Vice: Project Doom Overview
Vice: Project Doom follows detective Quinn Hart's investigation into a highly addictive substance called neon gel. The narrative unfolds through cinematic dialog segments between levels, revealing more about the gel's origins and the titular project as Hart advances. His initial partner, Reese, vanishes during the case, and Hart later develops a relationship with his new partner, Christy, while pursuing new leads.
Gameplay is structured across three distinct modes. Side scrolling platforming sections allow Hart to jump, duck, climb, and utilize a selection of weapons including a pistol, grenades, and an unlimited use katana. The game also incorporates overhead driving stages where the vehicle's speed can be controlled and a forward firing weapon is used, as well as rail shooter segments where enemies are targeted directly. All weapon types except the katana have limited ammunition, and collectible power ups include health, coins, and ammo.
Each level culminates in a boss confrontation that must be defeated to progress. The player must fight through various enemies across the different gameplay styles to reach these encounters. The overall structure, combining action sequences with story driven cutscenes, creates a challenging experience where advancing the plot is tied directly to overcoming these obstacles.
