Silent Service II Overview
Silent Service II places the player in command of a US submarine during the Pacific theater of World War II, following the attack on Pearl Harbor. The strategic context involves a depleted US fleet relying on its submarine force against Japanese naval power.
Gameplay is conducted from an interior submarine view, requiring management of the vessel's speed, depth, and heading. Players have access to nine submarine variants and ten different torpedo types to engage a variety of targets.
The opposition consists of fourteen Japanese vessel models, which include nine warships and five transports. Operations unfold across a simulation of the entire Pacific Ocean, with seven missions based on actual US Navy engagements. One objective involves attempting to sink the Japanese battleship Yamato.
