Comanche: Maximum Overkill Overview
Comanche: Maximum Overkill is a helicopter simulator based on the experimental RAH-66 Comanche. Its gameplay is characterized by a fair flight model and combat systems where weapons are highly accurate and the aircraft can sustain significant damage.
The technical presentation was notable for its use of the Voxel engine, also called Voxel Space. This technology produced terrain and objects with a more organic appearance than contemporary polygon-based graphics, creating fully illustrated environments for DOS.
Players experience these environments through a campaign of over twenty scripted missions. The visual system simulated natural lighting with shadows and reflections that moved in relation to the player's position.
