Street Rod Overview
Street Rod is set in 1963, casting the player as a young driver aiming for local dominance. The core progression involves acquiring an initial vehicle, modifying it, and engaging in races against rivals.
Victory in these contests yields monetary rewards and the opponent's car, while defeat risks the loss of the player's own vehicle. Financial management extends to buying and selling cars and components, with a haggling system present for sales.
The interface is designed to simulate a cohesive environment rather than a series of menus. Primary interactions occur within a virtual garage, where objects like a clock and a newspaper serve as access points for game functions and purchases. This approach is complemented by a character who provides commentary during play.
