QIX is a game where the player controls a marker to claim territory by drawing shapes. The primary objective involves filling in areas of the screen by completing these drawn enclosures.
Movement is challenging due to several hazards. A roaming entity called the Qix, along with Sparks that patrol the border, must be avoided. The player must also steer clear of their own incomplete lines and a Fuse that follows the path currently being drawn.
Points are awarded based on the speed of drawing, with slower construction yielding a higher score. Successfully claiming a sufficient percentage of the playfield allows progression to the next stage.
