Super Contra is a sequel that continues the fight against the alien force Red Falcon, which now threatens Earth. Players control the soldiers Scorpion and Mad Dog to stop this invasion.
The action shifts between side scrolling platform segments and top down perspectives across five levels. Environments begin in familiar earthly locations before advancing into more alien settings, with a diverse array of enemies encountered throughout.
Weapon upgrades are available during the mission to aid the player. The game supports a single player campaign or a challenging two player cooperative mode where both soldiers fight simultaneously.
