Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis Overview
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis presents an original story not adapted from a film, casting the archaeologist in a new global adventure. The plot is set in motion when a transaction with a client, who is revealed to be a Nazi colonel, involves a mysterious ancient statue. This event leads Indy to reunite with a former colleague, Sophia, and together they pursue clues linking the artifact to the myth of Atlantis.
Built on the SCUMM system, the gameplay is a point and click adventure where players select verbs to interact with highlighted objects. The experience centers on solving a variety of puzzles, which are mostly inventory based, and navigating dialogue trees with multiple options. Occasional simple fistfights with Nazi opponents are included, though some of these confrontations are optional.
A distinctive feature is the branching path in the game's middle section, which offers three distinct ways to proceed. These modes alter the locations visited, puzzles encountered, and characters met, varying between a cooperative journey with Sophia, a solo adventure for Indy, or a path with fewer puzzles and a greater focus on action sequences. The CD release of the game supplements all in game conversations with full voice acting.
