Super Fantasy Zone Overview
Super Fantasy Zone is a horizontally scrolling arcade shooter where the player controls Opa-Opa. The objective on each stage is to locate and eliminate all enemy generators before confronting a boss. Currency collected during a level can later be spent at a shop to purchase various ship upgrades and new weapons.
The narrative follows Opa-Opa's mission against the Menon empire after a gravitational anomaly appears on their home planet. This conflict becomes personal when his father, O-Papa, is mortally wounded in an attack, prompting a quest for vengeance.
While retaining the core mechanics of its predecessor, this installment introduces adjustments to its control scheme, utilizing the Genesis controller's additional buttons. It also removes an automatic orientation feature present in a portable version of the series, offering a different handling experience alongside a broader arsenal of equipment.
