Megapanel Overview
Megapanel is a puzzle game for the Sega Genesis that combines elements of tile sliding and block matching. Players manipulate colored blocks within a well, sliding them to form complete rows or columns of three matching colors, which then disappear and can trigger chain reactions from falling pieces.
The experience becomes more challenging as play progresses, with both the required number of clears and the speed of the rising block stack increasing. For solo play, a specific mode tasks the player with uncovering a full illustration of an anime character by clearing blocks that obscure it. A two player competitive option allows participants to disrupt each other by sending obstructive blocks to the opponent's play area.
Additional features include a practice mode that introduces the core mechanics through specific clearing objectives, selectable difficulty levels, and a visual filter that renders the game in a single sepia tone. The software also contains a sound test and multiple configurations for its versus matches.
