Fury of the Furries Overview
Pac-in-Time is a DOS platformer that reuses the structure of an earlier title called Fury of the Furries, with the protagonist swapped for Pac-Man. The core objective involves navigating a large island composed of eight distinct regions, progressing toward a final area known as The Machine.
Unlike a linear progression, individual screens feature multiple exits that can advance or hinder the player's journey. Pac-Man gains various temporary forms, such as a swimmer or a creature that spits fire, to overcome obstacles. The gameplay focuses on collecting points rather than the character's traditional dot-eating mechanic.
It is important to note this DOS version is unrelated to a Super Nintendo game sharing the same name. The original Fury of the Furries featured a different protagonist and narrative concerning captured royalty, which was replaced by the Pac-Man license for this release.
