Lemmings 2 – The Tribes Overview
Lemmings 2: The Tribes expands the puzzle formula by introducing twelve separate groups, such as Egyptian, Circus, and Highland tribes, each with its own themed environment. The objective across 120 levels is to reunite these tribes by recovering pieces of a Talisman, requiring the completion of ten stages for each group.
Gameplay involves guiding lemmings to safety using a large repertoire of over sixty specialized skills, though only a subset is available on any given screen. These abilities include varied terrain manipulation tools and movement methods like skating across ice or pole-vaulting. For players unfamiliar with the new options, four dedicated training levels allow free experimentation with any skill combination.
Progression is structured so that players can switch between tribes at any time, meaning they would need to be blocked in all twelve campaigns simultaneously to halt overall advancement. The game tracks progress through a save system rather than passwords. A key scoring change from the original is the emphasis on maximizing rescued lemmings per level, with bronze, silver, and gold medals awarded based on the number saved. The ultimate challenge is to achieve a perfect rescue record across all stages.
