Puyo Puyo 2 is a falling block puzzle game where players arrange colored blobs. The core mechanic involves linking groups of four or more matching Puyos to clear them from the field.
Clearing Puyos causes a chain reaction as remaining pieces fall, potentially creating further matches. Successful combos generate obstructive blocks on an opponent's side, which can only be removed by clearing Puyos next to them.
Available modes include a story-driven single player campaign featuring the protagonist Arle, a versus mode for two players, and additional options like four-player and endless modes on certain console releases.
