Ghostbusters Overview
Ghostbusters is an action game adapting the 1984 film, where players operate a paranormal elimination service in New York City. The core objective is to manage a city-wide surge of spectral activity by capturing ghosts, thereby controlling the rising psychokinetic energy level.
Gameplay alternates between two perspectives. An overhead map of Manhattan is used to monitor ghost sightings and plot routes for the team's vehicle. While driving, casual spirits encountered en route can be captured. Upon arriving at a haunted destination, the view shifts to a side perspective where two team members deploy proton beams and a trap. The player must maneuver the ghosts over the trap for capture.
Successful captures provide funds for upgrading the team's vehicle. The overall challenge is to consistently reduce ghost sightings, as the accumulating PK energy will eventually trigger an event at the Temple of Zuul. If the energy level is kept manageable, this leads to a final confrontation.
