Dragon Ball Z: L'Appel Du Destin Overview

Alt. Names: Dragon Ball Z: Buyū Retsuden, ドラゴンボールZ・武勇烈伝

Dragon Ball Z: L'Appel Du Destin is a fighting game whose roster is drawn exclusively from the Freezer and Cell story arcs of the anime. Playable characters include Son Goku SSJ, Vegeta SSJ, Perfect Cell, and others, with Krilin, Ginyū, and Recoome noted as making their debut in the genre. Battles take place across nine distinct arenas, all based on locations from the series; some stages appear in multiple conditions, such as a normal version of Namek and one that is on fire.

The combat system retains a dual screen display, allowing both fighters to remain visible even when far apart. This is a significant feature because the most powerful attacks, energy fireball projectiles, must be launched from a distance. Executing these special moves requires a sufficiently charged, rechargeable KI bar. Defending against them is challenging, as it can only be done by inputting a lengthy button combination.
