Wings of Glory Overview
Wings of Glory is a first-person flight simulator set during the First World War, specifically in 1916. The player assumes the role of a rookie pilot stationed at a British airfield in Thetford, England, as part of an allied squadron formed to counter German air operations.
Gameplay involves undertaking missions after receiving a briefing, which requires taking off, navigating to objectives, and returning to base to land. Aircraft are equipped with forward-firing machine guns, and some models can carry bombs. A notable feature is the absence of radar, making visual awareness for enemy contacts challenging.
Outside of missions, pilots can interact with squadron members and review a communal kill board. The game utilizes the RealSpace Engine and offers a third-person camera option in addition to the primary first-person view. Beyond the campaign, additional modes include a survival-style Gauntlet mode against endless enemy waves and a tool for designing custom missions.
