Might and Magic: Darkside of Xeen Overview
Might and Magic: Darkside of Xeen is the fifth game in its series and concludes a narrative arc initiated by the first title. It functions as a direct continuation of the events in Clouds of Xeen, with which it can be combined to form a larger, integrated experience called World of Xeen. This combination enables cross-over quests and utilizes pyramids as teleportation devices across both game worlds.
The setting is the darker, more bizarre hemisphere of the world Xeen, where a usurper named Lord Alamar has seized power. A party of six adventurers, empowered by the defeated Guardian of Darkside, works to liberate the land. Their journey ties into a broader conflict involving the space traveler Corak and the corrupt Guardian Sheltem.
Gameplay maintains the engine and interface of Might and Magic III: Isles of Terra, making it nearly identical to its immediate predecessor in mechanics. The experience is more plot-focused than earlier series entries, incorporating a larger number of cutscenes. Dungeon exploration places a greater emphasis on puzzle-solving, which can make progression challenging.
