Legends of Valour is a role-playing game set in the troubled city of Mittledorf, where the player investigates the disappearance of a relative named Sven. The political situation is unstable due to a malevolent royal cousin oppressing the populace.
Gameplay involves navigating a large, continuous world in real time, with a movement style comparable to Ultima Underworld. The environment is extensive, featuring a surface area over a square mile and an additional network of underground tunnels spanning dozens of miles. This space is populated by thousands of characters who follow their own routines.
Character creation includes customizing appearance, which has a direct influence on social interactions, potentially leading to friendship or conflict. Advancement and plot progression are tied to joining Guilds and undertaking quests for them. While some magical abilities are available initially, acquiring more spells is necessary later, making the overall progression challenging.
