Boxing Legends of the Ring Overview
Boxing Legends of the Ring is a boxing simulation featuring eight historical middleweight fighters, including Roberto Duran, Jake La Motta, and "Sugar" Ray Leonard. Players can engage in single matches or pursue a championship in a career mode.
Visual feedback during bouts is provided through two primary displays. One meter uses boxing glove icons to indicate where punches have landed, while another shows the fighters' faces accumulating visible damage such as cuts and bruises over time. This facial meter also begins to flash red to signal when a boxer is fatigued.
The available punches consist of standard boxing moves like jabs and hooks, alongside an illegal low blow. A key strategic element is the super punch, earned by scoring knockdowns or performing well in a round. This powerful strike can end a fight but is lost for the round if it misses. The fatigued state of an opponent, signaled by the flashing meter, represents the optimal moment to attempt this move.
The game's presentation shifts perspective between rounds, alternating between a view from behind one fighter to a view from behind the other.
