ESPN Baseball Tonight Overview
ESPN Baseball Tonight is a baseball simulation for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It features twenty eight official Major League Baseball teams, though the rosters do not include licensed player names. The primary perspective for both pitching and batting is from behind the batter.
Available modes extend beyond standard exhibition and playoff matches. Players can engage in separate pitching and batting practice, as well as a dedicated Home Run Derby. Certain gameplay elements are configurable, such as the ability to toggle fielding errors and an assisted fielding option on or off.
A specific manual action is required during fielding play; after a play ends, the user must throw the ball back to the pitcher to resume the game. A later Sega CD release expanded the experience by adding a full 162 game season mode and incorporated more than ten minutes of video highlight footage.
