Knights of the Sky is a World War I flight simulation. Players control a pilot, selecting from twenty distinct aircraft with unique handling characteristics.
Gameplay involves a range of mission types, including patrols, attacks on ground targets like supply trains, and combat against enemy fighters, bombers, balloons, and blimps. A campaign mode allows progression through the war, where skilled performance can trigger special events, such as a challenge to a duel from an enemy ace.
A notable technical feature for its time was modem support, enabling direct competitive dogfights between players, which was uncommon among similar titles.
