King Arthur & the Knights of Justice Overview
King Arthur & the Knights of Justice is a top-down action title for the Super Nintendo, drawing its premise from an animated series. The narrative centers on a modern American football team magically brought to Camelot by Merlin to serve as substitutes for the real knights, who are imprisoned. These players, each granted a knightly identity and magical armor, must undertake a quest to free the original Round Table.
Gameplay involves controlling the quarterback, Arthur King, who can be accompanied by two computer-managed knights from the available roster. Each character possesses fixed attributes such as Life Force, Defense, Strength, and Speed, with their own health indicators. The primary objective is to recover the 12 keys of truth from specific lieutenants, a task that requires the corresponding knight to retrieve each one, and to obtain Excalibur.
Combat mechanics are based on a depleting and regenerating strength bar governing sword attack power. Arthur can block and parry with his shield while moving in four directions. Health for the party can be restored either by using collected items like healing herbs or by returning to the safety of Camelot. A menu system provides access to inventory, a map view, knight statistics, and game preferences.
