"Joe & Mac 2: Lost in the Tropics" is a sequel where players control the cavemen Joe and Mac. Their objective is to recover a stolen crown for the Chief of Kali Village, a task that requires gathering seven Rainbow Stones during the adventure.
Gameplay involves navigating diverse environments, from jungles to icy regions and volcanic areas, while confronting prehistoric foes like dinosaurs and other cavemen. Players can enhance their club weapon and acquire projectile attacks by consuming certain items. The structure allows free exploration via an overhead map, enabling revisits to previous areas.
Progression is tracked with a password system. A new economic element lets players collect coins within levels to buy supplies, such as health-restoring meat, from Tiki Village or to upgrade their home hut. Certain stages introduce vehicle-based segments, where navigating a stone cart involves avoiding obstacles and enemies.
