"Jurassic Park Part 2: The Chaos Continues" is a two-dimensional shooter set on the island of the failed dinosaur park. The narrative involves two competing interests returning to the location: John Hammond dispatches a team, including Dr. Alan Grant, to reestablish order, while the rival Biosyn Corporation sends its own forces to seize control.
Gameplay supports one or two players, with the second player controlling a tactical sergeant named Michael Wolfskin. Together or separately, they confront both hostile human operatives and the island's free-roaming dinosaurs. The structure involves selecting missions, with many levels offering non-linear exploration where players must investigate different pathways to succeed.
Each character has access to an arsenal of six weapons. A primary machine gun and a cattle prod have unlimited ammunition, though the prod is only effective against dinosaurs. The other weapons, which can target both human and dinosaur foes, have limited use. This arsenal management is a consistent element throughout the missions.
