Championship Soccer '94 Overview
Championship Soccer '94 is a top-down soccer simulation adapted from the computer title Sensible Soccer: European Champions. Its control scheme is straightforward, prioritizing rapid passing and a generally fair pace of play.
Team selection is extensive, offering forty national squads, sixty-four club sides, and an equal number of user-created fantasy teams. From this pool, players can configure custom tournaments in league or cup formats, with adjustable participant counts and rule sets. The available pre-set competitions differ from the source material, featuring renamed events like the EUFA Cup and Maastricht Cup, while original licenses for athletes and organizations are not used.
A separate SEGA CD release leverages that platform's storage for enhanced audio and brief pre-match video sequences, such as a flyover of a stadium. For custom teams, the tournament options are more limited, restricted to the Booby League and Turkey Tournament.
