Championship Soccer '94 Overview
Championship Soccer '94 is a fast paced top down soccer game derived from the computer title Sensible Soccer: European Champions. Its control scheme is simple, focusing on quick passing to maintain a rapid tempo.
Players have access to a large selection of teams, including forty national squads and sixty four club sides, alongside an equal number of custom fantasy teams. These can be used to assemble customized tournaments, where the participant count and certain rules can be adjusted. The available pre set competitions differ from the original; national teams can compete in World Cup qualifiers or the Maastricht Cup, while club teams enter the European Superleague or the EUFA Cup. Custom teams are limited to the Booby League and Turkey Tournament. Notably, real world names for organizations and tournaments are not used.
The Sega CD release leverages the format's storage for enhanced audio and includes brief rendered sequences, such as a stadium flyover before a match begins.
