NHL 97 Overview
NHL 97 is a sports simulation from EA's long running series. Its presentation is enhanced by a virtual stadium system offering multiple camera perspectives, one of which is a top down view not present in the previous year's installment. The players on the ice are rendered as polygonal models with motion captured animations.
Beyond the visual upgrades, the title supports multiplayer for up to eight participants via network or a specific controller interface. It includes tools for creating and trading custom players. As with other EA sports titles of the era, licensed multimedia elements are present, such as a feature dedicated to viewing the detailed artwork on thirty different goalie masks.
