Heavy Nova Overview
Heavy Nova is set in a future where Earth's unified Government deploys cyborg defenders called Heavy Dolls against alien threats. The player assumes the role of a trainee undergoing simulations to earn the elite Heavy Nova designation.
Gameplay alternates between two distinct modes. One involves navigating hazardous side scrolling environments, where the objective is to reach the end quickly while preserving health. Movement starts as purely horizontal but later incorporates vertical scrolling, and the character can initially fly and use kicks against obstacles and enemies.
The other primary mode consists of one on one martial arts battles, reminiscent of the style seen in Street Fighter 2. Early opponents in these duels begin with significantly less health than the player. Successfully advancing through the simulation unlocks additional combat techniques, a progression system similar to that found in Brutal: Paws of Fury.
