Twin Eagle is a vertical scrolling shooter where the player operates a helicopter against a range of ground and air targets. The opposition includes aircraft, armored vehicles, and infantry, making the environment challenging.
Progression is based on scoring points through combat, with additional opportunities arising from rescuing hostages freed from destroyed structures. The helicopter's arsenal can be enhanced by collecting items dropped by defeated foes.
These power ups provide several offensive options, such as alternate weapon types including cannons and missiles, or screen clearing bombs. Other collectibles improve mobility or augment the strength of the currently equipped weapon.
