Magic Darts Overview
Magic Darts is a sports simulation for the NES offering six distinct dart game variants. Players can select from ten different avatars, including an alien, a robot, and a monkey, to compete in matches that support up to four participants.
The core throwing mechanic is governed by four adjustable parameters: power, angle, curve, and position. This system requires precise control to successfully hit targets on the board.
Three of the game modes, 301, 501, and 701, can be played with either open or double rules, with the objective being to reduce a starting score down to exactly zero. Other modes provide different challenges. Count Up is a straightforward contest for the highest total score, while Round the Clock demands players hit numbers one through twelve in a specific sequence.
The Half It mode begins with each player holding 40 points. Over a series of rounds, players are given three darts to hit specific targets, such as 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, the bullseye, the double ring, or the triple ring. Successfully hitting an assigned number adds to the score, but failing to hit all targets in a round results in the player's current point total being halved. The player who finishes with the highest score is the winner.
