Strider is set in a futuristic Russia during the year 2048. The player controls Hiryu, an operative designated as a Super A-Class Strider, who is tasked with stopping Grand Master Meio's plan for universal domination.
Gameplay involves navigating through five distinct levels, where the protagonist can run, jump, and climb across various surfaces including walls. His primary weapon is a plasma sword known as a Cypher, used to combat robotic enemies and human guards. Each level culminates in a confrontation with a boss character.
