Flappy is a puzzle game where the player directs a yellow mole named Flappy. The primary objective in each stage is to maneuver a Blue Stone onto a matching Blue Platform.
Progress requires manipulating Red Stones, which can be pushed, stacked, or broken. These elements must be used with consideration for gravity to create a viable path for the primary stone. The player must also contend with three enemy types that obstruct this goal.
Enemies can be dealt with through evasion, by crushing them with dropped stones, or by using collected Sleeping Mushrooms to temporarily incapacitate them. This makes the gameplay challenging, as it combines spatial puzzle solving with enemy management.
